Leadership Spotlight: Tom Bielicki

After 23 years, it’s safe to say Tom Bielicki has found his calling: training a recruiting team that serves our partners as much as our adjuster community. Over the years, Tom has watched first-hand as our organization grew from a small regional operation to the claims powerhouse it is today, all while playing a critical role in nurturing our adjuster network to match the needs of our partners.

For Tom, leadership extends beyond the realms of recruitment; it is about fostering a sense of purpose and impact. This commitment is what inspires him as he develops a standout recruiting team, navigating the dynamic landscape of talent acquisition in the ever-changing world of claims. We sat down with him to delve into his journey, gather insights garnered over two decades, and explore the profound impact he envisions for the future of recruiting within our organization.

As VP of Recruiting Development, what are your responsibilities?

Short answer, I am responsible for the development of our recruiting team. The goal is to ensure each recruiter understands what TheBest Claims Solutions does, why we do it, and how we do it. This involves initial training – we spend a week in a classroom environment with our new hires and provide a crash course on recruiting for the P&C market. From there it continues with On-the-Job (OTJ) training – tools and resources we have and how to utilize them, how to source for potential candidates, and how to recruit, pitch, and submit those candidates to open positions. Understanding the industry and our role in helping our clients – carriers, TPAs, and employers fill open positions.

What’s one of your proudest accomplishments in the 23 years with TheBest Claims?

I joined TheBest Claims in 2001. Back then we were a small, local staffing firm in Phoenix. I met with the owners – who impressed me with their vision. I wanted to be part of that vision. In the years since then, we have grown from a local to a regional to the leading staffing and recruiting firm nationally for the P&C market. Due to that success and seeing that we can offer a wider selection of services to our clients, we expanded into the IA space – full-service claims handling for weather-related claims. Today, TheBest Claims is the leading staffing and recruiting firm nationally for the P&C market. We are among the leaders in the IA space and we operate two claims centers (Dallas and Atlanta). Each day, we continue to make a difference in people’s lives. That is something I am proud of and continues to drive me daily.

What about our company inspires you the most?

The difference we make in people’s lives. Being able to share opportunities that are measurably better for someone’s career that allow families a quality of life they can enjoy is very rewarding.

What do you think have been key factors in our company’s success over the last 20+ years?

I think the biggest factor in our success has been our ownership, specifically Brad Dunlap. From day one, his vision, tenacity, commitment, work ethic, and drive to always be TheBest has been a defining factor. When we were a small, local firm with a vision – he led by example. He was the first one in the office, the last one to leave. No task too small, no challenge too big. He was inspirational then and continues to be inspiring today.

What sets our recruiting team apart?

Our recruiters are industry experts. They know the P&C industry, the history, today’s market, and the relationships between carriers, TPA, and employers. Each day is an opportunity to make a difference. In short, our commitment to being the best continues to set us apart from the competition.

When it comes to a career in the insurance industry, what’s your number one tip for success?

My advice for anyone seeking a career in the industry is the same advice I give my 3 children. Find what you are passionate about and commit 100% of your time, energy, and focus to being YOUR best. Learn, ask questions, be better today than yesterday, and be excited about tomorrow.

What’s one thing we wouldn’t know by looking at your LinkedIn profile?

I am an immigrant. I was born and raised in Poland and moved to the US in 1972. My father is my hero and everything I am, personally and professionally, is due to the examples he set.
